When you see this many unfavorable reviews, you have to think twice. I would not recommend this product. We got rid of it as soon as we could.

I finally received a notice after we got rid of our Eddie Bauer carseat that there is a recall on the straps that go on the carseat. I ended up sewing another strap on top of the original when I became aware of the straps pulling out of the carseat putting my child in danger. We now have a Britax Roundabout carseat. They are well worth the money and the BEST on the market.
I HATE this car seat.

I got this travel system as a gift for my shower. I thought WOW its Eddie Bauer and expensive it will be great! Boy was I wrong. I to struggle every single time I put my son into the car seat, the straps twist and become loose. I am scared to death that my son will be injured from this seat. It would be nice to get a refund seeing that I planned to use the car seat a lot longer than a couple months. The stroller has been okay, it does take up a lot of room in the car and the wheels do squeak. Over all I strongly would advise you not to buy this piece of junk!!

When my husband and I put this on our registry, we thought we had found a good stroller/car seat system. We went to the store and checked it out, made sure there were no recalls, read reviews by customers on this website...everything checked out great! BUT our impression of it changed once we started using it. Within the first few uses, we discovered the straps were always getting twisted. And they were getting twisted inside the car seat (where the strap goes in and comes out the back). That was quite the frustration when you have a little baby that doesn't want in the car seat in the first place! Then when our son was about 4 months old, we noticed the straps were loose, when we KNEW we had tightened them. All of a sudden, it seemed like they were loose all the time! We had to constantly keep checking them to make sure they were secure, even while we were driving. And just like a lot of parents have mentioned on here, we thought we were doing something wrong! We have been extremely disappointed with this car seat, AND the stroller. It is heavy; it's not lightweight at all. And we've had the same issue of the wheels sqeaking. And we're not talking about a little sqeaking; this is loud, annoying sqeaking. (Thank goodness for WD-40.) I sent an email to Dorel to request new straps; we'll see how long it takes for them to respond! Buyers beware!
Very Unsafe! Do Not Buy!!!!!!

The straps on this car seat keep coming loose while I am driving!!! I thought it was something that I was doing wrong at first but now I know it is not. This is suppose to be one of the safest baby products that you buy and yet it is the most unsafe!!! I am so dissapointed that a big name company like Eddie Bauer could sell such a useless piece of equipment. (Not as important, but the wheels also squeak. Very annoying, but not dangerous).

Do NOT buy this travel system because the straps on the carseat simply fall out while you are driving! If you call the customer service dept of Costco, they'll send you replacement straps, but I haven't gotten them yet to see if they work. I'm just glad I haven't been in an accident before this.br /
The wheels squeak too, but that is unimportant considering your child can fall out of the carseat.

I received my travel system for a shower gift in September. The stroller worked okay, but the carseat..oh my gosh! The straps come loose every time I used it. I was under the impression this product had been recalled (misunderstood) and I contacted my local Target. The manager advised me to bring the stroller back for an exchange, no problem. When I attempted to do so today, I was told there was no recall on this by an extremely rude worker. Glad I've given them so much of my business.

this is the "lightweight" travel system. it most certainly is not lightweight. i've compared it to several other car seats as well....other eddie bauer models included. this is just ridiculously heavy and even way too big and cumbersome to fit in most shopping carts.br /
i too had several problems with the straps. i thought that i just wasn't doing it right at first but no, it wasn't me. it was the lack of a safetly feature by eddie bauer. this is just too dangerous to mess around with. get a different system. don't put your child in danger by having them utilize this.

I had problems with the straps on the carrier coming undone very early on, but didn't think anything of it. I just kept checking them and re-adjusting them. The longer I have it the more I have to adjust them so they don't come completely undone. I noticed a different reviewer said that hers didn't come undone and that we should check whether the strap in front is adjusted or not. This has nothing to do with the problem I'm having. The problem is not evident when you first adjust the straps. Any movement of the straps (ie when you strap your baby in and get baby out) jiggles the straps out of the mechanism in the back. I did a little field test at Target on the Eddie Bauer where I jiggled the staps from the front and eventually the straps came undone. I tried the same test on a Graco model with the same configuration and the straps remained intact. I'm not sure why they come out since the two looked identical. Go figure... br /

Initially my husband and I hated this seat because the plastic buckles have to be put together and then snapped in the recepticle (very cumbersome). The pieces that go in between baby's legs were too large which also made it hard to snap in. We cursed it every time we had to put our daughter in the seat. I eventually got used to it, but would still prefer the ones that snap in independently like on the Evenflo or Graco.br /
br /
For the most part I was fairly happy with my Eddie Bauer travel system , but the reason you get an infant car seat is for safety first so I have to rate this one very low. I felt I needed to share my rating to get the overall rating down on this model. As someone else said...If I had just read these reviews before, I would have gotten a different system

If you've had problems with this unit's saftey report to www.NHTSA.dot.gov and report it so we can try to get this thing recalled before a baby gets hurt or worse. My son is two months old and I barely go out so I just noticed the straps don't work properly. His left strap is always comming undone. I used a saftey pin to temporarily remedy this until I can return it. The wheels also squeak. My main concern is my child and other potential parents who are unaware of the danger. You don't know the strap is defective until its come loose and it doesn't come loose right away. It comes loose when you've been driving and you can't imagine the horror of thinking your baby has been riding without restraint. RECALL won't happen unless you report it.
If I only read the reviews

If I had only read the reviews, I would have avoided this stroller system! I have the same problems as nearly everyone else: the straps constantly come undone, the wheels squeak despite lots of WD-40, the carseat is so heavy even without the baby in it, one set of fronts wheels is shorter than the others so it is REALLY difficult to steer, and the plastic flap that holds up the bottom of the car seat when it is attached in the stroller often doesn't engage so that the carseat falls. All in all I think it's a poorly made product and Eddie Bauer should be embarrased to have its name associated with the darn thing.

We bought this "high-end" travel system when our first child was born last year. I shopped around a lot, but believed in the Eddie Bauer and Target reputation for quality. I agree the system is well thought out and very convenient. However, like many of the reviews on this page We first notice the squeaking wheels, premature wheel-wearing, and the flimsy canopy, and the "non-stabilized" base belting system...but worst of all was when my wife arrived home from a 3.5 hour drive to find my son completely unsecured in his seat due to the rear harness restrain system slipping out of the retainers AGAIN!!! This is a safety nightmare and not only shouldn't Target sell these, Eddie Bauer should do a recall before both companies cause the unnecessary loss of a child's life.
br /I had intended to use this for our second child well-on-the-way, but will now write the manufacturer and Target to request a full refund.

I've had the same problem the previous reviewer mentioned. The straps on this infant seat adjust themselves after a few days of getting baby in and out and eventually come undone! This happens at least once a week! I plan on calling the manufacturer this week to complain- and I urge anyone else who has had this problem to do the same (that's how recalls happen!) It scares me to think what could happen if we were in a car accident and the strap holding my son chose that moment to come undone! The infant seat is also fairly heavy. I have not had any problems with the stroller, and overall- do like the look of both the seat and stroller...but would strongly caution anyone thinking of buying this infant seat!

We own the eddie bauer travel system. I wouldn't recommend this stroller to my friends. The wheels wobble, squeak terribly and are showing a lot of wear. My baby is only 7 weeks old so it hasn't been used over a long period of time. I'm very disappointed in the product. I wouldn't buy this stroller again.

Okay, first time mom, wanted all the best stuff, and I wanted it to match. For those people w/complaints about the straps. I called Eddie Bauer when I had that problem and they apologized for my inconvenience, notified me that they had "recalled" the straps and sent me new ones overnight at no charge. They even talked my husband through replacing the old ones.
br /The only "problem" I had with this was that I used it SO much that the wheel started to squeak. I started carrying PAM around w/me to spray on the wheels when they got too noisy.
br /I LOVED this stroller. The "spring loaded" carrier underneath allowed me to store all my packages at the mall without waking my sleeping infant. Priceless!

my son quickly outgrew the carseat (he is a very big boy), but i do remember having some issues with the straps. now i just use the stroller. my wheels are not squeaky, and i don't find that it's heavy like some other people. i get it out of my trunk with one hand! while baby is in the other arm. i can also open it with one hand, which is convenient when you're holding baby in the other. i love the parent cup holders, i use them for keys and cell phone. the underneath storage is great, lots of room. it also seems to be very comfortable for my son. the footrest that flips out from the front is nice while we take our walks. our neighborhood is only about half paved with some very big curbs, and this stroller handles it like a champ! i recommend this product.

I did a LOT of research before buying anything for my baby... Since my parents were planning on buying our travel system I gave them a few options... my Dad also did his own research and decided on the Eddie Bauer travel system... mine is a different color (black/silver) but the exact same design. I am still fairly in love with my travel system - although the front wheel squeaks and since I go on regular walks this is a little annoying - I'm hoping some WD-40 will do the trick. br /
br /
As for the complaints others have had regarding the straps coming loose... I'm not sure if they noticed this (unless my car seat is different than theirs) but the straps are built into the car seat and there isn't an end to them because the straps are inside the car seat unit underneath. As you adjust them underneath the seat to accomodate your growing baby - you have to SECURE the straps once you have adjusted them - you cannot just assume that since you pulled the strap out a little to fit your baby that it's going to stay in that position without securing them. I'm not sure if they had done this, or they were doing it correctly - but my husband and I haven't had this problem. If, in the future we do - I will be sure to update my post and notify the company. br /
br /
As for the complaints about the car seat being heavy... well, yes it is heavy. But nearly ALL car seats are heavy... afterall this is what is supposed to be protecting your child in the event of an accident. Think about it for a momemt... do you really want your child in the backseat of your car in a really light car seat in the event of an accident? The weight of the car seat helps keep it stable and secure. And, I'm a former insurance claims adjuster so I have a little bit of knowledge about accidents and such. br /
br /
My recommendation - don't carry the car seat with the baby in it... either use the stroller or use a baby sling (which is better for you and the baby anyhow - arms free carrying and your baby gets to snuggle right against you)! br /
br /
My only main complaint about the system is: the stroller is relatively bulky for getting in and out of the trunk of the car. I have an Accord and I admit my trunk opening isn't that big, but I have a little difficulty getting it in and out. Just something to be aware of in case you have a smaller vehicle or a small trunk opening.

This is by far the easiest stroller I have ever had to deal with. It unfolds and folds up so easily that you only need one hand to do it. And it isn't heavy at all so lifting it and putting it in our high SUV is really easy. I love how the infant car seat and the stroller have the head covers that can cover both ways and totally sheild the baby from the outside. We love the dual drink holders and key compartment. And putting things in the bottom is so easy since the basket part has springs that make it easy to store baby bags and packages.
This is the Lexus of strollers...

My mom bought this for me as a shower gift. I only saw the picture of it online, and couldn't really tell what it looked like or the material, but the description seemed like it was everything I needed. When it arrived, my boyfriend put it together pretty easily (there was a lot of assembly, though). We were amazed. It's very light and sturdy at the same time. I couldn't tell by the picture, but it's got front shock absorbers which is awesome since I do a lot of walking. The handles are very cushiony. When you have the carrier attached to the stroller and you have both bonnets opened, it shields the baby from any sort of wind or rain or snow. (I live in Iowa, and I'll be having my baby in November.) All of the material is very strong and an eye pleasing color as well. The buckles in the carrier are very strong as well. There's 2 of them which I feel provides extra safety. (Always a plus!). This is a great buy for the money!

I absolutely love this travel system! I had one of the originally travel systems six years ago with my oldest child and there is no comparison between the two. I can't even pinpoint my favorite feature - there are so many! It is very easy to transfer the infant carrier between the base in our minivan onto the stroller. I love that the stroller collapses so easily (with one hand) and stays upright. I take my baby everyone on the stroller because it is so easy to use and I prefer the security of his carrier on the stroller rather than trying to get it secure onto a store shopping cart. The basket is a good size so even if I am doing some shopping, I can just load it up with my items instead of using a cart. I would highly recommend this system to anyone!

we bought the stroller before my baby was born and we cannot be more pleased with our choice! we tested out many strollers, but this was the one that we kept coming back to. I wanted a sturdy stroller than can last us a long time and this was it! because of where we live, there is plenty of dirt and debris on the ground, we couldn't be more happier to find out that this stroller can fold upright where the wheels never leave the ground...love this...couldn't find anything better

Everytime I go out with my baby I get so many compliments and smiles! But this isn't the reason why we got this...it is very well-made and easy to handle! It is pretty big, I have to admit, but it keeps me relieved in knowing that my baby is going to be safe and secure. There are two cup holders on top and one on the baby's tray, it has a compartment for your keys, wallet, etc...The carrier itself is pretty big and bulky, but it is the easiest thing to take in and out of it's base. The shade is durable and covers my baby very well and it also has a little peek-through window on top. I love that the basket below can store many things because it is spacious, the material and design is very well-made and stylish, but BEST OF ALL, you can fold this stroller UPRIGHT without having to bend over! Only the wheels touch the ground, which is a good thing especially if the ground happens to be covered with mud, dirt or water! AND you can do all this with just one hand!!! This stroller is the best investment we could have ever made! I have fun taking my baby out and instead of dreading lugging a stroller around, I actually look forward to it!

When I first began my search for the perfect stroller I had no idea it would be so hard and that there were that many differnt types of strollers. I am a first time parent and I highly recommend this stroller. Your child sit's up high in it and has a better view. Has great features. The material it is made out of is soft and stylish. It is worth every penny.

I have a complaint about Eddie Bauer Edgewood Lightweight Travel System. I bought this for my son a few months ago and have the same repeated problem with the car seat part. The straps that are supposed to secure the child constantly come undone on the back side of the car seat. To explain this a little better, when you are looking at the straps that go across the child chest, follow them through the back of the car seat where there is a device that is supposed to secure them and not allow them to come lose. br /
br /
However, it seems that every time I put my child in them they are lose and I have to check to make sure they have not come undone. I thought this was user error for a while so I let my mom do it a few times and she had the same problem. br /

The main issue is, if you don't turn the seat around each time you put your child in it, the straps could have come lose and if you get into an accident the child will go flying. Even if you do check the straps before you put the child in it, who is to say that the straps will not come lose while you are driving. Since they have so much give if the child starts wiggling while in the seat they can easily get out.

Thanks for your feedback
I have been using this car seat/stroller system for a few months now and think it is WONDERFUL. As for the mothers who are having trouble, I can't see why. I DEFINATLY had to read through the directions because it was slightly confusing at first, but once I got the hang of things it was easy. I have had NO troubles w/ the straps coming undone, the car seat sits w/ ease in the stroller (by moving the adjustable bar to hold it in place) I would HIGHLY recommend this stroller to others and for tose who don't like it, do you REALLY think a big name as Eddie Bauer would put their name on it w/o really testing it out?!
