Like most others, I did a whole lot of research before purchasing this stroller. Our baby is 8 months old now, and here is our review thus far:
br /
br /PROS:
br /1. One-hand folding of the stroller - super fast, and easy. This was one of the main reasons I bought the Orbit, since before becoming a mother, I used to dread waiting for a car space that was occupied by someone trying to put their baby in the car!
br /
br /2. Safety - the infant car seat is by far one of the safest around, as most safety inspectors will attest to. I feel a lot better knowing that my precious cargo is secure. The only thing is that your baby may be craning to see get a better view of what is outside the egg-shell shape of the car seat.
br /
br /3. Rotating base - this is great for use in larger restaurants and just to provide your bub a change of scenery once in a while. Not to mention that it's helpful to be able to use the same base between stroller and car (but I figure that's a given).
br /
br /4. Conversation piece - you'll probably get quite a bit of commentary on how "space age" and "high tech" it looks. Doesn't hurt to be a little different :)
br /
br /CONS:
br /1. Weight - I'm sure I strained something I shouldn't have when I was trying to lift my (then) 5-day old baby in the car seat. And now she's bigger and much heavier, it takes me a few heaves and hos to get her in and out of the car. Watch out if you have a bad back!
br /
br /2. Tires - Horrible placement of the air valve. We were out at the Ferry Plaza when we got a flat, and the portable air pump was useless since we couldn't reach the valve, despite numerous contortionist attempts. My husband had to go home and use our electric tire pump to fix the issue.
br /
br /3. Price - I have to wonder, $900 for the stroller, $180 for the stroller seat and then $??? for the toddler car seat. Methinks it is a bit much for what is an excellent infant car seat, and a stroller and toddler car seat.
br /
br /4. Size of the infant car seat - I bought this because I read that it fit in a Mini. We have an Audi S4 with Recaro seats which we have accidentally torn up, because the car seat is just too big for this vehicle and anyone over 6 ft tall cannot recline with car seat in.
br /
br /Hope this helps!
This stroller makes you cool even when you become a parent.

If you don't want to read the rest of the review, here are three huge benefits of the Orbit Baby stroller/seat system that may not be very obvious just by looking at it: base installation, one-hand folding and the locking mechanism.
br /
br /1. Base installation. It's the easiest, simplest, safest base installation I have seen. You can install it with the seat belt or with the LATCH system, but in either case you don't have to stand on the base or pull and tug on belts like a mad man. All you have to do is turn a knob a few times and that's it. Even the wimpiest guy (myself included) can do it right the first time. The person at the hospital checking the installation commented that he's never seen an Orbit installed improperly. The best thing though is that it fits in my BMW convertible so I don't have to turn it in an exchange it for a minivan.
br /
br /2. One hand stroller folding. This really is a one hand folding mechanism. One flick of the wrist and the clever mechanism uses the weight of the stroller to fold it and lock it place. You have the other hand free to do whatever you want with it.
br /
br /3. Locking mechanism. Last, but not least, is the round locking mechanism (I guess hence the name Orbit) between the seat and the stroller or base. When placing the seat on the base in the car, you can approach and enter the door with the seat facing you (sideways relative to the car). This way both hands are extended the same amount and you don't have to stretch in funny ways over the seat. Once in place, you can further adjust the baby in the seat while facing you. When done, just rotate it 90 degrees in place and you're done. On the stroller side, the circular locking mechanism allows you to have the baby facing forward, backwards or sideways (great for restaurants if you don't want the handles to impede the traffic of all the waiters around you).
br /
br /Even neighbors who don't have kids realized that this is something special.
br /
br /Other neat features:
br /
br /Handling. The handles are placed just right that it makes the handling feel like it's on rails. It may not be a Porsche or BMW, but it comes close.
br /
br /Ride. The tube tires make for a really nice, smooth ride.
br /
br /Storage. There is a nifty storage bag underneath the stroller. It can be removed or it can stay in place even when the stroller is folded. It also comes with a neat pump for the tires.
br /
br /Privacy shade. Shade has a thin cloth extension that can be pulled over the front of the seat. Therefore you don't need to mess around with blankets and other improvisations.
br /
br /Bassinet. The optional bassinet is great since it locks on the same stroller base. It also collapses so it's easy to carry around.
br /
br /Cons
br /
br /Colors. It only comes in black and brown and the brown is positively dull. Also, the shade of green of the accents makes it even duller. Some red, yellow or orange would be cool.
br /
br /Weight. The stroller is a bit on the heavy side.
br /
br /Storage. The storage under the stroller, although very cool, it could use some compartmentalization.

We have had the Orbit Baby Infant System since we brought our 2 month old home from the hospital. We LOVE it and can't say enough about it. Immediately you can tell its designers had the busy and active parent in mind...from its (1) ready-to-go-right-out-of-the-box-very little-assembly-required to its (2) quick and safe installation in the car (we have had so many friends complain about how hard other car seats were to install ...and after a couple of hours of their time, they still ended up bringing it to the police station to make sure the seat was secure--and even then, the police re-positioned the car seat because its installation was wrong!) to its (3) one-handed folding stroller to its (4) smooth one-handed steering.
br /When I met some friends for lunch with my baby, I found that getting out of the car with infant in tow was a snap. I popped the trunk, flipped out the stroller base with one hand, picked up my baby in the car seat and dropped him into the base and we were ready to roll. The valet was so impressed with how quickly and easily we were on the move..."I really like that. I've never seen anything like it before."
br /As a physician who sees a lot of new parents with back pain, I really appreciate its ergonomic design. It is the only car seat on the market with side handles and the only car seat that you can drop into the seat base from any angle.
br /This ability to rotate 360 degrees also allows us to keep our baby facing us when we eat out at restaurants.
br /Oh, and the style-factor...its sleek and stylish look always gets comments and WOW's. I have yet to have an outing where I don't get asked about the Orbit Baby System.
br /We are so happy with our Orbit and feel so secure with its safety that we are purchasing an Orbit Infant System for my expecting sister...only the best is good enough for family.
Bugaboo vs Orbit

Thanks for your feedback
We now have two strollers:
br /The Bugaboo Cameleon bought in 06 and the BabyOrbit 07. I wanted to buy the Orbit last year but it was not available at the time + there were no reviews in comparison to all that's been written about the Bugaboo so we coughed up the coinage and bought a Cameleon. We received the BabyOrbit 2 months ago and here is the difference for those who wonder about the two strollers.
br /Right out of the box the Orbit was dead easy because it was already pre assembled-no tools- no watching a DVD or reading assembly instructions.Things we were unsure of were well laid out in the photo handbook that neatly zips away in the baby seat. We had to assemble things with the Bug and the line diagrams were a bit harder to read.
br /
br /Impressions:
br /Excitedly, I took Maya out today for a 20 min walk just to try out the Orbit and compare specs to our Bugaboo Cameleon that is larger in fold mode going in/out of our trunk. Shannon said naturally without a thought..."Daddys gonna take you for an orbit"... and it was a good experience!
br /Immediately, the Orbit's unexpected strength other than the simple twist and stroller fold out launch, was the rotating hub. During my first walk, I must have rotated Maya 15 times; she just loved the rotating perspectives I was able to show her during our walk whether is was getting her eyes out of the bright sun light or away from cold winter breeze, just squeeze and rotate...simple.
br /
br /With the Bugaboo, while I can with two hands bend over and unclick the seat locks then lift up and rotate Maya to one other position, in reality we don't do this very often because..A] the Bugaboo stroller seat a bit bulky to dead lift/ B] so one should lock the wheels and be on sure footing with room to rotate before performing a vertical lift/rotate and relock. This is much dicier if you have back problems. I don't do the 180 degree flip unless its really needed[ really windy-rainy or she is crying bored], as Shannon is only 5'-1", she would rather not do it period preferring me rotate Maya.
br /In the Orbit all this becomes mute as functionality, design and ease merge to provide more than just the ability to rotate Maya easily as her field of view becomes a 360 degree perspective at the snap of a lever.
br /These new views kept Maya alert, quiet and happy[ she extended her leg and toes outwards so she could hold onto them throughout our walk as a sign of real contentment].
br /The Orbit's rotating hub innovation is truly a big leap in parent / toddler stroller ease of interaction. For anyone who has ever tried to strong arm a 20lb baby seat[ie Graco Snugride] into a car will attest- the task becomes a chore because you need to align the car seat at a 90 degree to your body[basicaly put the seat in over the base locking latches then relift over the latches till everything aligns and then locks inplace. The sideways lifting and fiddling can be hard on the arms or back.
br /With the Orbit, the seat goes into the car head first, pull up on the handle straps to gently guide the seat over the rotating base hub till unit clicks in place. Once secure the base carries all the weight as you simply rotate the seat until it locks into the travel position. If your baby crys or fidgets[especially waking up from a nap while the car is parked], simply rotate the seat to get easier access to her. Rotate the seat again when you are ready to take her out. What we love is this..as the seat rotates in any direction we can take her in and out from the passenger side or driver side with ease.
br /
br /Superior build and wow factor. Being a Dad, I like cool well built things and the Orbit comes thru! Every detail is so well designed, I even enjoy using the sliding pod bag because its so easy to load and unload.
br /On the Buggaboo, their carry tray is quite awkward when you load and unload from your car. It doesn't swing free and takes up extra trunk area unless you unvelcro it from the stroller. If you leave it on or need more trunk space you need to tip it up but this causes stuff to fall out of the carry tray. With the Orbit, the pod is a carry bag that closes up so nothng falls out + it tucks up neatly when you collapse the unit.
br /The difference in trunk area between these two stollers side by side in our 4 door sedan?
br /The Orbit takes up 1/3 the trunk area and will fold up with a one handed lever twist= easy. The Cameleon Buggaboo takes up nearly 2/3's our trunk floor area and you need two hands to complete the fold. Relaunching the Bug is a learning curve. I'm fairly usefull at gadgets but the ingeniuos frame design of the Bug that allows different uses is also confusing to unfold. I finally "got it" after 12-15 launches! The designers would do well color coding the fold/ up/down direction of the aluminum support arms so novices and family can figure out how to unlatch it quickly without having to think or learn the process as it is not intuitive at all.
br /The Bug is slightly shorter in length so it can turn a bit easier. The ride of the Bug is softer especially over bumps due in part to better front wheels. For drivers the Bug ride is more Lexus while the Orbit more tighter like a BMW.
br /The Bug comes with a Bassinette which we used a few times. The Orbit comes with an integrated infant car seat with rock solid all metal locking base station that installs easily into vehicles with or with out infant seat latches. This design clearly surpases our old Graco Snugride in every way except weight. The Orbit infant is about 4-5 lbs heavier due to the extra padding lateral protection. The shape of the shell is like a protective caccoon around our Maya/ the Graco is more open and exposed.
br /The Bug provides a bassinette instead of an infant car seat system. Both strollers have adjustable handles/ the Orbits has a more natural hand grip but the parking brake system requires two lever flips to lock as opposed a more convienent single lever on the Bug. We found the Bugs sun/rain shade a bit difficult to setup but the Orbit's literally a snap to use or tuck away.
br /The Orbit's is designed to transport infants and small toddlers about/ it has a comfortable resting angle but the seat does not recline like the Bug seat. The Bug is not as effective carrying infants outside of the bassinette but the seat has more room if your infant grows beyond 22 lbs. The Seats of both strollers are comfortable for Maya. As she is 9 mo old and has not outgrown the Orbit infant seat, we haven't tried the Orbit toddler seat addition which does recline.
br /In summary, both strollers are well designed, well built and without a direct comparison anyone would be tickled pink to own either stroller. However, after currently using both, I think the BabyOrbit provides better value in terms of the quality of materials used, the fit and finish of the details and more user friendly features in a more compact design. These are just a Dad's thoughts, if you have other experiences I would love to hear them.

THE BEST SYSTEM and customer service! I LOVE ORBIT!

Just wanted to update my review..I recently had an issue with my stroller and a replacement part was sent out in days with no silly little detail work involved ( HUGE when you have a toddler and never enough time to do everything! ) The customer service is just outstanding! I use and LOVE my toddler stroller seat..great recline and the best sun shade available. My sister just got her Orbit system for her first baby and is excited to use it after seeing how much I still love mine (my daugher is almost 2!) Again, this is just the best company and product out there...I am so glad I did my research and got the Orbit system...
br /I LOVE my Orbit system. I gave birth overseas and travel frequently ( my 10 month old is on her 16th flight!) and EVERYWHERE I go in the world, EVERYONE comments on the Orbit system.
br /It is hands down the BEST on the market. So easy to use at the flight gate or just shopping around town. I have had a few people follow me to my car to check out the car seat system after seeing me with the stroller. They all tell me how they spent hours installing their car seats and are just amazed at how easy the Orbit system is. I reply it is also one of the safest on the market. Everything on the stroller is of the best quality (the wheels are awesome!) and designed with ease of use in mind.
br /
br /It is worth every penny...and more. I say this to myself almost daily! My experience with customer service has also been exceptional. I have actually received a reply to an email question within 7 minutes! To me that is amazing! Most companies send an auto reply stating someone will contact you within 48 hours, and then the reply does not even begin to address your question. Not the case with Orbit...again, the service you would expect from this quality system.
br /
br /I am anxious to get the Toddler car seat! However, I would rather wait and know that the car seat has been tested and is the safest product they can make. In the mean time, the toddler stroller seat is a great option. And even though I bought another car seat to tide me over until the release of the Orbit toddler car seat, I figure Grandma can always keep an extra at her house!
br /
br /Like any expecting mother, I spent countless hours researching strollers and car seat options. After hours spent online and asking other moms, I spoke to my friend who owns a children's boutique and attends the industry trade shows regularly. She told me the ONLY system she would buy is the Orbit system. Once I looked it up online, I was sold and my search ended immediately. I have never looked back....I just LOVE my Orbit system and do not know what I would do without it!

Great but not perfect

It really is easy to use, but it has its shortcomings although the pros definitely outweigh them.
br /
br /Biggest pros:
br /
br /1. SUPER SAFE CAR SEAT. Really. And the only one in which my son looked comfortable as a newborn (no dangling head) and now that he is almost 10 months and close to 22 lbs. Incredibly easy to latch on and off the base, when he was using the bassinet on the stroller I loved being able to turn the car seat sideways to strap him in... and not having to deal with the seatbelt! And it does last for a while, we are still using it and he seems happy and comfortable in it.
br /
br /2. TRUE ONE-HAND FOLDING. I constantly use the NYC subway (many stations don't have elevators) and I can fold the stroller and go up/down the stairs without ever letting go of my son or having to fuss with diaper bags hanging from the handles. Check the video demonstration on their website.
br /
br /3. REALLY GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Twice I've had to use it. And both times my e-mails were answered within hours and VERY satisfactorily. Absolutely no-fuss.
br /
br /4. The toddler car seat allows you to keep the baby REAR-FACING UNTIL she/he reaches 35 LBS.
br /
br /There are more, but I will run out of space (love that bassinet, the pod and the "paparazzi shield", and I wasn't at all excited about the last two when I bought it but they have proven very useful).
br /
br /Now with the not-so-great part:
br /
br /1. I'm not in love with the toddler stroller seat. My son seems to slide sideways no matter how tight the straps are, and since he is close to 22 lbs and able to sit by himself, stand, cruise and seems fairly normal otherwise, I'm not sure it's all him. Maybe he'll grow into it, I don't know, but it is a problem. Also, it reclines at about 130ยบ angle, which is not that bad, but not what I understand as "fully reclining" which is what they advertise.
br /
br /2. The toddler car seat can only be used with the base until it has to be used forward-facing, that means no turning it on the base to strap baby in. Not the biggest con, but disappointing.
br /
br /3. The front wheels are VERY hard to remove for travelling (one of ours was broken in our first plane trip) and the wheel removal tool is only sold with a travel bag at $140.

I did a lot of research before deciding on the Orbit, but it was all worth it. We love it. And better still, when we took the car seat and base to a safety check at our local fire station, to make sure we had installed the base correctly, the guy working with us loved it! He took pictures of the car seat and base and called everyone else over to look at the design and the features. We were a huge hit as they'd never seen anything like the Orbit before. We couldn't have been more pleased and our daughter couldn't be safer. Please remember that the safest place for the car seat is in the middle position.
Great product, great design!

Wow, what a revolutionary system. No more struggling with car seat straps or switching baby from stroller to carseat. This is honestly the easiest product I've seen on the market. The car seat/ carrier literally just snaps into the stroller or the base... from any angle! Worth the price just in reducing the hassle. And luckily, they have a toddler stroller seat that you can buy to add to the base when they outgrow it... so probably saves money in the long run. And its neat design makes it a conversation peice too... i'm always the envy of other mothers at the grocery store. :)

The Orbit Baby Stroller and Car Seat Combo is the best product available. I did extensive research on what to get and Orbit surpasses all the other strollers/car seats by far. It is the most functional of any stroller that I researched and "test drove."
br /
br /Better than Bugaboo, Peg Perego, MacLaren, not just BETTER, the BEST. It is safe and secure for your little one - nice and "cozy wozy." The 360 degree spin feature makes getting in and out of the car a breeze and the one handed collapsible stroller feature makes life so much easier. As any parent can attest, the little things make such a difference, they make life so much easier, and the people at Orbit know this - they designed this stroller with babies and parents-using-one-hand-most-of-the-time, in mind.
br /
br /I know it's pricey, but it is worth it. Why spend a few hundred on a car seat, another couple of hundred on a stroller and additional dollars on a diaper bag when you can buy the Orbit system that has it all! And with Orbit, you know that it all matches beautifully, is totally safe, and everything fits! And when your little one gets older, you can buy the Toddler Seat for a mere $150 and there's even a Bassinet with Rocker (!) for $229.
br /
br /Everywhere I go, people comment on my stroller. Even people without children, okay? It is a serious headturner. But the most serious thing about Orbit stroller is that it's safe and lightweight. The fact that it's aesthetically pleasing, spins 360 degrees, has a cool "paparazzi shield" to block the sun, wind or rain, closes with one hand, comes with a diaper bag, can go over grass, gravel or sand, and is a car seat/stroller seat all in one is just the icing on the cupcake.
br /
br /Look no further.
br /
br /And NO, I do not work for the company :-)

The Orbit stroller is by far the BEST purchase we made for our son! The ease and functionality of the stroller is well worth the price-while we see other parents struggling to put their strollers and car seats into the car, it takes us just a few seconds. We see them fighting with the stroller in our rear view mirror as we are driving away. It folds SO easily and quickly and I enjoy giving a demonstration, every time I'm asked, which is often.
br /
br /Some people gave us a hard time for spending so much, but a few minutes into the conversation they always admit that they were on their 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th (average priced) stroller, and their baby was just about one years old!-So, they spent MORE on their strollers AND struggled with each one, while we love our Orbit.
br /
br /We watched other parents spend over 30 minutes figuring out how to install a car seat base in their (or the grandparents) cars-with the Orbit it takes the most mechanically challenged person about 1 minute.
br /
br /We love the swivel feature and use it all the time to keep the sun out of Ethan's eyes. The sunshade is also great for that. The diaper bag is the only diaper bag we use.
br /
br /Additionally, it was the ONLY stroller we found that fit into the trunk of our Mini Cooper without having to put the back seat down.
br /
br /The SERVICE at Orbit is superior to luxury car dealerships. Any problem you may have, they will help you quickly. I needed a replacement front wheel, they shipped two immediately, at no cost. Phone calls and e-mails are responded to immediately.
br /
br /We used this infant car seat for 13 months-and our son was usuallyin the 50%-65% percentile for both height/weight
br /
br /This is the best stroller on the market-you will not regret getting one.

I absolutely love my Orbit. In addition to the fact that we are constantly stopped by people either asking about the stroller or commenting about how cool it is, it has the most user friendly functionality. Love is in the details. Just go try it out. You won't believe how easy it is to use.
br /
br /For those of you who are debating between the Bugaboo and the Orbit, I actually got the Bugaboo Frog for my first child (before Orbit reached the market) and liked it fine. But in my opinion, the Orbit is so much better for so many reasons. 1) It folds more compactly. It takes up significantly less room in my car than the Bugaboo. 2) It's a single step, 1-handed fold whereas the Bugaboo required me to remove the seat, put it on the ground so I can have both my hands to click the levers on the stroller, then basically fold it down twice before I can put it in the car (and then bend down to pick up the seat and put that on top of the stroller). 3) It rotates 360 degrees. There are endless obvious benefits to this feature. 4) It has cup holders! 5) It has a great sun shade. I'm constantly worried about my baby's skin exposure to the sun. With my older child, I always had to lay a blanket on top of the sunshade in order to fully shield her. But with the Orbit's shade and "paparazzi shield," they've beautifully solved this problem. (Additionally, the toddler stroller seat has a beast of a shade!)
br /
br /The Orbit car seat is heavier, but I feel that the ease of assembling/disassembling the stroller more than compensates for the heavier car seat, meaning you can always just stroll your baby instead of carrying ANY car seat. Another huge plus for the stroller is its maneuverability. I can always push the stroller with one hand and it turns on a dime.
br /
br /Lastly, as a mom who is slightly a clean freak, I love how Orbit understands the importance of being able to remove the linings and pads, machine wash everything, and put it all back on with ease.
It's functional, it's stylish, and it's the safest thing out there!

My favorite features of our Orbit are the singled-handed twist fold on the stroller, the 360-degree rotation and the cargo pod, but I'm just starting to appreciate how amazing the car seat itself is. Because of its versatility, convenience and style, there was no question that we were getting the Orbit so I never even looked at other car seats. Now that our daughter is born, I've been going to a weekly moms' group and I've had an opportunity to check out various alternative models. The Orbit car seat is by far superior to anything else out there. I get comments from other moms all the time about how safe my car seat looks, how easy it is to load, and how much my baby seems to like being in it. Other babies protest and cry when they're being bundled into their car seats, but Carson calms right down the minute she's enveloped in the sanctuary of her Orbit. On the rare occasions when she does fuss, I can rock it easily with my foot or swing it back and forth using the soft, comfortable handle.
Definitely the best

We have 4 kids and I sure wish we had this since we had our first born. This is the best stroller we ever owned and the only stroller I was willing to fork up the money for.
br /
br /Of all its great features, I was most attracted to how easy it is to rotate the seat in any direction. This is important to me because I've experienced many times how annoying it is when the sun shines on my baby's face and there was no way to cover it except to put a big blanket over the stroller. The Orbit makes it easy to turn your baby away from the sun--all you do is press on the levers and turn...no need to lift up the seat or fiddle with any clips. I love it!
br /
br /The car seat and base is amazing. It is by far the easiest car seat to install and very classy looking. I love how easy it is to remove the cover when you need it cleaned (you don't have to fiddle with the straps at all!). It seats my baby comfortably and she is positioned so that everything is easy on her back. The padding keeps her warm as well. I love also how you can turn the seat to face you so that it is easy to get your baby in and out of the car. A poster gave 3 stars because she said it gave her a bad back, but I actually found that being able to swivel the seat to face me saved my back! My baby now weighs 18 pounds and I have no problems ... even with carrying her inside the car seat.
br /
br /The stroller frame is lightweight and again, easy to unfold and fold. It is considerably more compact than other high end strollers out there. The cargo pod is another great feature. It is my diaper bag. Do I miss having a large shopping basket? Not really - for me strollers are made to stroll the baby, they are not meant to be used as shopping carts.
br /
br /Finally, I have found Orbit baby to have great customer service. I contacted them once and they resolved my dilemma quickly and satisfactorily. The person who gave it a one star did so only because the toddler car seat was not released in time for her to use it. This does not make the infant system a useless purchase in any way. As far as I know there are no strollers in the market that allow a toddler car seat to be attached to it, only infant car seats. Even if she purchased a different stroller, she would still have to buy a separate toddler car seat. I also would have been glad that Orbit didn't rush the toddler car seat as I would prefer that all the kinks be worked out and my child safe. I did buy a toddler stroller seat so that I could continue to use the stroller without the infant car seat. The stroller seat is great--but that would be a separate review. I am still debating whether to buy the toddler car seat when it comes out (it will cost a whopping $300), but I am leaning towards it.
Cool, convenient, but frustrating when you think about it

We definitely loved the infant system at first. The one hand folding feature is great. It looks great. We're confident that our son is as safe as possible. But the downside revealed itself pretty quickly. First of all, one of the plastic snaps that holds down the sunshade busted within the first week. The infant seat hardly fits in our '99 Subaru Forester. Fortunately, we're not very tall people, but our legs still feel pretty cramped up front. It's heavy. I can handle the weight, but it quickly became too heavy for my wife. The frustration now is that we're just about ready to go to the next level of seating. Didn't realize until now that there is no longer the convenience of one multi-use seat - there is a separate stroller seat and car seat. The stroller seat cannot be used as a car seat. And apparently, the car seat COULD be used as a stroller seat, but they don't recommend it because now its really heavy and really inconvenient to get in and out of the car. Which begs the question, what's the point of the whole "base" system once they're no longer infants if you use two different seats? And the biggest, biggest thing is the price. $220 for the stroller seat? $360 for the car seat!?!?! That's highway robbery. We'll buy the stroller seat, but we're taking the base out of our car and buying a quality car seat for safely under $200.

Many of the reviews here are accurate and I won't reiterate, but I thought our application may be helpful for those mothers/fathers who have a problem with one hand.

br /My wife lost most strength and coordination of one of her arms because of a stroke and we were looking for a stroller/car seat that would be easiest for her to use.
br /
br /The beauty of Orbit is that my wife can unlatch the car seat from the stroller or car base with just one hand as opposed to all other car seats we looked at which required a squeeze or twist of two handles to unlock. Also, the ability to place the car seat in the car straight in with the baby facing out the passenger door and then swivel into rear facing position is really convenient.
br /One hand closure of the stroller base is very convenient for me and easy for my wife.
br /
br /She has trouble tying her shoelaces, but she has no problem with the Orbit!
br /We've had this system for 7 months and still going strong.
There is nothing like it on the market and it is BEST total system hands down

We looked around for the perfect stroller, car seat and equipment everywhere from Baby's R Us to the high end places at little boutiques and there is nothing that even comes close to the ORBIT system. It is beautiful piece of engineering that fits together perfectly for easy transitioning from the stroller to the car seat with the ease of a single pull on the two handles on the side. Once the seat is placed on the 'orbit' seating on the stroller, the infant carriage unit is set in place without any worries of it falling off, but if you want to twist the carriage into a new position with your baby facing you or facing the side or facing forward all you need to do is pull on the two levers and twist the carriage around and it locks into place. The mechanism is easy and brilliant. The employees that came up with the design are a few Stanford Design graduates and they had the needs of the parents in mind when they built this unit. No wondering why all of the celebrities buy this unit. It is safe, beautifully crafted, sturdy as well as ergonomic. Even the wheels have real rubber inner tubes you have to pump up (pump included in the unit) and the unit comes with extra inner tubes in case you get a flat-just in case you want to take your stroller off-road. It is that sturdy where you probably could and your baby wouldn't know the difference. It is the Rolls Royce of strollers. Below the stroller is an easy "slide-in" bag where you can carry all of your carry along items and it slides in an out without messing around with clasps or buttons and it will not fall out.
br /
br /The stroller collapses in a jiffy and its weight is easily manageable. So no need to worry!
br /
br /If you are into fashion there a all different kinds of accessories you can get to put a splash of color to your stroller.
br /
br /Customer service is bar none. When we received the unit, they had forgotten to include the front wheels so we called them up to register the product and mentioned that we were missing the front wheels. They apologized profusely and sent them out immediately no questions asked and they were so curteous and kind. It made me feel that much more secure about purchasing an expensive item like this because I can trust that they will stand behind their product and made sure I'm happy with my purchase.

br /We got the slate color stroller system and we also got the bassinet. The bassinet is also beautifully crafted in the same tradition and I'm comfortable putting my baby in there without any worries or concerns about safety. Again, solid construction, great design, easy to use, very flexible in terms of my needs, interior cushioning is solid and absolutely beatiful. The bassinet easily comes off of its base and conveniently attaches to the stroller so that you don't have to deal with the hassle of taking your baby out of the fasteners just to re-harness him/her into the stroller just to go for a walk. It is as easy as pulling on the two handles to unlock the bassinet from its base and then you can transfer the entire unit onto the stroller and click get into place. I just can't say enough about this product!! If I could give 10 stars I would-it is that good.
br /The price is a bit expensive compared to the stuff at Baby's R US, but none of them are as versatile or safe, and if you factor in the fact you get a car seat and stroller, there is no question in my mind that it is well worth the money. I have found this lesson to be true in most cases-You get what you pay for and I'm not going to compromise on my little one.

My new arrival and I have been hitting the road in Orbit and loving it! The car seat is so solid and safe, and she sleeps really well in it. I take a daily 3 mile walk with the seat on the stroller base - I love being able to turn the seat so she's out of the sun or wind, and it's so easy to push and maneuver.
br /My husband and I are always competing to get to push the stroller! And it's visually so striking - I never go out without many people stopping to comment on how cool it looks.
br /
br /Lastly, as a petite woman, it's great to be able to handle all the gear one-handed. The one-handed folding mechanism means I can just throw the wheels in the trunk. In the car, I can put the baby in the seat, then turn it to face the back. It makes it so easy to get her in and out, and no back injuries from stretching into awkward positions.
br /
br /And the pod is the greatest diaper bag around! holds everything including my purse. I will definitely get a toddler seat when she's big enough.
Great car seat stroller system, but heavy.

My wife and I love this stroller and people are amazed at how easy it is to take the car seat off and on. Car base is very sturdy, love the included sunshade, and the stroller handles very well.
br /
br /However, if you have a bigger baby it will probably only last until they are 6 months (22lb capacity). The car seat is also VERY HEAVY. It is around 10lbs, so is one of the heavier car seats on the market. I have gotten a sore back a couple of times when we were moving her in and out of the car throughout the day.
br /
br /Overall, a great stroller that would be perfect if the carseat was a couple pounds lighter.

I can't tell you how much we absolutely love our stroller. My husband should be a spokesman for the company. Every time someone even looks towards the stroller, he is making a full on demonstration as to how the seat attachment is also the car seat, and how the stroller itself folds ("Just one hand...see?"). We recently took it with us on a trip to South America, and everyone had something to say about how cool it looked and amazing it was. I had actually bought a small fold up stroller thinking the Orbit would be too bulky to travel with. It turns out, I was smart to have thought of taking both strollers to the airport, and choosing to take the Orbit with me on our travels. In fact, I traveled alone on the way there, and as there were empty seats on the airplane, I was able to leave him in the car seat throughout the trip. It was so helpful! While in South America, my parents had borrowed from some family member, a car seat, that one: had no neck support, and two: frankly, visually, it didn't convince me of it's safety. We used the car seat without the base, as explained on the car seat itself, and boy was that a lifesaver. Now we are back, post holiday blues, and still using our Orbit Baby up and down Manhattan and Jersey. It looks a little worse for the wear, the airline did some major aesthetic damage to it (nothing involving the integrity of the equipment itself), thankfully, the replacement parts Orbit sells online will take care of the damage! The baby's change in food caused problems of another kind (thank you Orbit, for making it so easy to wash!). I wish I had looked on your website and known of the travel bag before the trip. This is a stroller system that we bought for our third child, and I'm generally very pleased with it (for all the reasons people have touched on before). The one major criticism I have about the infant car seat is that because of its unusual shape (mainly its depth, I think) our average sized baby became cramped after about a 1.5 months of age. So as you can imagine, this limits how long one can practically use this expensive infant car seat stroller system. I think other car seats I've used before (Britax, Evenflo, Graco) are better suited for a growing baby.

My husband and I were first introduced to the Orbit Baby Stroller by a salesperson because we were looking for a stroller that would be good for tall parents. My husband is 6'7", and I am 6'0". With the exception of the Orbit, we kicked the tires on every other stroller we tested. The Orbit is great because it has 3 handle positions, so both tall and short people can use it. The rear wheels are set far apart, and they are not connected by a bar, which eliminates the kicking problem. The tall handles, wheel position and lack of a connecting bar make it extremely comfortable and easy to push the stroller. Neither my husband nor I have to bend over to push the stroller. I was hesitant to purchase the stroller due to the price, but it was by far the best investment we have made.
The best stroller/car seat choice!

Although the initial investment is a bit pricey, this is a GREAT investment! We have travelled to NYC and Paris with the Orbit and it is fantastic. So easy to use all over. Travelling was simple...even getting in a cab was easy! We LOVE the Orbit and recommend it to everyone who stops to talk to us about it (and we get stopped all the time, even by people who do not have kids). The first time you use it and realise you can TURN the whole chair to put the baby in, you wonder why doesn't everyone own one of these. It really makes your life EASIER and as a new mom, who wouldn't want that! I would say purchase now, don't even think about it!

I purchased the Orbit Baby Infant System in OCT 2006 - On their website it said the toddler car seat would be ready Spring 2007- I thought great right on time. However when I would check back on the website the dates for release of the car seat kept changing. Next it changed to Fall 2007 and finally they took it off the products list because the truth is they are not sure when it will be ready. (Buyer beware) When I called for a solution to the problem I was offered a very minimal disount on a stroller seat and massive attitude- (UGH! I need a car seat) also I was told I would have to buy a different car seat/ system!! Regretfully I have a "Orbit System" that I paid and arm and a leg for which is totally useless- and now have to go buy 1) a new car seat 2) a new stroller
br /Thanks Orbit baby!!!!!
