Easier to use than a travel system

I have used this stroller for 8 months now and have no complaints about it. I used a travel system with my first baby which was so heavy and cumbersome that for baby no. 2 I felt it was worth spending the $60 on a car seat carrier. This is also the 4th stroller I've purchased, and by far the best design! This stroller:
br /-steers easily with one hand. I can hold my older child's hand and push and maneuver the stroller at the same time.
br /-has a HUGE basket underneath - bigger than most strollers I've seen and used.
br /-has a parent tray with 2 cupholders, and room to place car keys, cell phone, and wallet
br /-really does fold with one hand - with brakes on it folds down very easily. Secure the latch and toss it in the car.
br /
br /These are not issues for me but might be for you - it's not that compact when folded (I drive a minivan) and it's not as light as say, an umbrella stroller. Since the car seat doesn't click into anything, you have to secure the straps before moving which I've forgotten to do. You also have to undo the straps to get the baby out of the seat (which is why it's easy to forget to resecure them.) I notice the one they are selling here has bright red straps which might help with remembering this.
br /
br /I will be sorry to give this stroller up when my baby outgrows her car seat!

Pretty Neat Stroller Frame...

I have a Graco Snug Ride II carseat...I selected this stroller frame because I had a gift certificate that covered the cost of it so it would be free.
br /
br /Upon assembly, we attempted to attach the car seat to the stroller frame. The instructions made it look like the back part of the car seat should snap onto the frame. Our car seat does not.
br /
br /Called customer service, got a prompt friendly associate on the phone who informed me that Graco Snugride II will not snap onto this frame, but that the safety strap should adequately secure the seat to the frame.
br /
br /So for that, I take away one star.
br /
br /However, the other four stars are well deserved. Here's why:
br /1. It fits in the trunk of my Honda Civic with room to spare.
br /2. It is lightweight.
br /3. You truly CAN open and close it with one hand, LOVE THIS!!
br /4. The ride is SMOOTH regardless of terrain.
br /5. The handle is just right for a 5 ft 2 mom. No back strain or arm tiredness from improper height.
br /6. The basket on the bottom is SPACIOUS and easy to access. Big ole diaper bag and Mom's purse fit nicely.
br /7. The parent tray is spacious and holds keys.
br /
br /As for a recommendation, I am on the fence. I would prefer for the seat to snap onto the frame, this still bothers me. However, all the other features are important and work well for this product, including availability of customer service to quickly answer questions. So I would say I am 51% leaning towards a "Would Recommend" for the Kolcraft Universal Car Seat Carrier...

According to the manufacturer, this car seat carrier is NOT compatible with thousands of infant car seats on the market despite the clearly misleading name "Universal". I bought the top rated infant car seat by Britax and then this carrier based on the box which said compatible with Britax. After reviewing the instructions, I found it was not compatible with this and many other infant car seats.

We bought this used before my daughter was born and it is absolutely one of the best purchases we made. Its lightweight, folds and unfolds easily even with one hand. It folds down really small (great when you have a smallish compact car like we do). The basket is huge -- it fits my largest diaper bag, purse, and a couple shopping bags. The handle is softly cushioned and feels nice. It steers really well, even when weighed down with baby and with a full basket. (I once used it to transport a case of water (in the infant seat), 36 cans of pop, a couple bags of chips, and a few packages of cookies while we were out and trying to move party supplies, and it STILL steered great with all that weight.)
br /
br /I love it. LOVE it. I wish I could find a regular stroller that I loved as much -- it's going to be a hard act to follow.
br /
br /One caveat: with our Combi infant carrier baby sat fairly upright, much at the same angle as when the carseat was in the car. When we borrowed a Graco infant seat from a friend after we were in a car accident, I found that the Graco reclined quite a ways. That would've been great for a young baby but my daughter was 4 months old and liked sitting upright a bit more.

I LOVE this stroller. I have the universal II. It's lightweight, easy to fold with one hand, fits in easilly in the trunk, and it's easy to put the car seat in and out. It has made such a difference to my overall mobility with the baby. We go everywhere now-Supermarket, mall, strolls in the park. It's so much better ( and smaller ) than my travel system stroller. The shopping basket is nice and large, and I've never had any problems. What a pity my son has outgrown his infant car seat. I'm really going to miss this stroller.

I love this car seat carrier! LOVE IT! I have a Graco Snugride and it fits perfectly in it. Its lightweight, incredibly easy to manuever and it has a HUGE storage basket underneath. Plus, the one hand folding mechanism is awesome!! This is MUCH easier than those big bulky travel systems - this folds up so small and takes up very little trunk room. I cannot find one thing that I don't like about it. . . its a must have!

I'm a first-time mom of a 9 week old and I like things to be easy. (Why add stress to your life if you don't have to?) I'm so happy I decided to wait to buy a Peg Perego or Mclaren light weight stroller until my son gets bigger. I've been using this stroller actively for 7 weeks now and couldn't be happier. Here's what I love about it:
br /
br /--I didn't notice when I purchased it that it has shock absorption, and it's a smooth ride for long neighborhood walks.
br /--The wheels have even survived the rough terrain of a gravel/hay pumpkin farm, when I thought I would damage it for sure, and didn't.
br /--It's so light
br /--It's narrow enough to use in tiny restaurants in the Bay Area, and is also great for long neighborhood walks.
br /--It holds my large diaper bag when needed.
br /--I can fold it with one hand, prop it up against my thigh and plunk it in the trunk with ease.
br /--It's good for talk people (I'm 5'9") and has a comfortable handle.
br /--I can push it with one hand and hold my coffee in the other. (I didn't know that you can't put a coffee in the cup holder of many strollers because coffee will go everywhere, but the cup holder is good for pacifiers, keys, water bottles and a baby bottle.)
br /--The storage compartment below has two mesh pockets--perfect for my wallet and small toys, receipts, etc.
br /--I don't have an SUV, and it fits in the trunk with room to spare.
br /
br /I've never written a review before, but read them all the time, and wanted other mom's to know how happy I am with this purchase. It's not very often that you're the happiest with the cheapest option of anything, but I love it when that happens!
br /
br /And oh, if you're into this kind of thing, it matches the new Graco Safe Seat (the black and red one) perfectly! The hooks on the back don't fit the stroller perfectly, but once it's strapped in, there's no way the seat is going anywhere.

Universal--with some help

Several other reviewers nailed it: The Kolcraft Universal appears to be designed specifically NOT to work with many infant car seats (a Graco SnugRide in my case). An anti-roll bar-shaped steel strut connects the two handle shafts exactly where many seats would like to clip onto the stroller, thus affixing them securely. Without, the Kolcraft's single strap and basket tension method is tippy, at best.
br /
br /Fortunately, this strut is connected with two light rivets on either end--a few minutes with a drill to remove the lower ones, and the strut pivots out of the way, allowing your seat to clip onto the support exactly where it looks as though it should (anyone who's ever drilled out a rivet will understand the potential for frustration here). With this method, you can easily stick in another rivet or tap in a small bolt to return it to a stock configuration. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
br /
br /To all appearances, Kolcraft originally designed the stroller to work with these center-latch style seats, but added the bar specifically to prevent you from latching your seat on. Weird and highly inconvenient, at best--dangerous, at worst.

My husband and I realized after our first son was born that we did not like the big bulky car seat stroller combos. So when my second baby was born I purchased a new infant carrier w/o the stroller thinking that I wouldn't need/want one for the car seat. As it turned out I changed my mind and bought this one and I love it. I have a Britax infant seat and it fits perfectly on the stroller. The stroller itself was easy to put together, actually not much to it at all. It fits nicely in my vehicle. I leave it in the back of my SUV. Unfortunately it does not fold up umbrella style but it's not as big and bulky as the stroller seat all in ones which I love. I've been very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone. For anyone who has the Britax seat, you can use this stroller and not pay as much.

Pros:
br /-Large, easily accessible basket.
br /-Large cup/snack holder.
br /-Long handle keeps you from kicking the stroller wheels as you walk.
br /
br /Cons:
br /-Most car seats *do not* snap onto the frame including some that are supposedly compatible according to the manual (including my Graco SnugRide, which did not fit).
br /-The only thing left to secure the carseat to the frame is a belt that snaps across the middle of the carseat. If you run into something, the car seat flips upward, pivoting on the strap.
br /
br /I took this to Babies R Us and tried it with all the infant seats, but could not find one that actually snapped onto the cross bar of this stroller frame (tried Evenflo, Combi, Graco SafeSeat). I was disappointed because I do like the design of the stroller and would have kept it if I could find a compatible carseat. I ended up returning this and getting a Graco SnugRider stroller frame instead - not as nice but at least my Graco seat sanps onto it securely.

I love that this stroller, it will accept any infant carseat. I have a carseat that would not work with any other stroller and did not know what I was going to do until I found this stroller. It is almost as good as an umbrella stroller (which was the only thing I would use until I had my new baby). The only thing I do not love about this stroller is it is still a little bulky when in the folded position.

I love love loved my universal car seat carrier. After a C-section I was not supposed to lift anything heavier than the baby and with this I didn't have to. Easy to use, easy to fold, and get in and out of the car. The parent tray is great, and the storage basket is huge. We even grocery shopped with it (groceries in the bottom basket) and I felt safer than balancing the car seat in the shopping cart. We also used it for some light jogging until baby was big enough to go in the jog stroller. I am just sad that there isn't a version that has an attached toddler seat so that I may have the same convienience with baby #2.

After reading reviews about this stroller's supposed incompatibility with Graco Snugride car seats, I was leaning toward the Graco Snugrider Snap N Go until I actually saw the Kolcraft stroller.
br /
br /The bars are adjustable, and there is a setting for the Graco Snugride carseat, and I had no problems.
br /
br /I very much like the one hand fold, light weight, large basket, and smooth glide of the stoller, and am very pleased with the overall quality.

Item not as lightweight and compact as I had hoped it would be. It is universal so I can't expect the car seat to be a perfect fit, but I wish the car seat fit more securely. Serves its purpose though. Not nearly as bulky and heavy as my Graco Travel System. Very easy to push and maneuvers well. Easy one-hand fold up system.

If you have an infant and space is tight in your vehicle and/or at your home, you might want to consider a universal Infant Car Seat Carrier. We have 11 kids and drive a 15-passenger van around that simply has no place for a stroller (especially for our double stroller). So we purchased the universal infant car seat carrier. It works just like a stroller and folds down very slim and slides under our back bench seat.

I love this stroller. It fits easily in the trunk of my car and I can lift it with one hand (and I had a c-section!). My Graco Snugride fits well in the stroller and I take it everywhere. The basket is very large and fits the diaper bag, my purse, extra blankets, etc.

This is a great stroller! I will not do the bulky, heavy travel system thing, but wasn't happy with the umbrella-type I had for baby #1 b/c I couldn't see him and even reclined felt like he had to sit too upright. This rolls smoothly, is easy to steer, and folds easily. It fits through narrower spaces where a larger stroller won't, it has a large basket that's easily accessed from back or front, it holds two normal-sized cups or bottles if that's important to you... It's a better height than the Snap-n-Go (which is too low for average height or taller people) and best of all-- I got it used for $35 and am borrowing an infant seat that fits it fine.

I have the Universal II, and it's great. Like the above reviewer commented, it maneuvers well, folds easily, and has a HUGE storage basket underneath!! It has been very handy and I will miss its convenience now that my son won't fit in the Snugride carseat anymore. The other stroller that I have is a Pliko P3, which is also nice, but I'd rather use the Universal II....oh well - too bad they don't make another version to transition too!

This carrier works great on smoothe and paved surfaces. My husband and I leave this skele-stroller in the car trunk. We drive to the mall, pop the car seat into the stroller and fasten the seat belt around the car seat, and we're good to go for a cruise in the mall. Sometimes the front wheels look a little wobbly, but I think that's just how they are. If they put some shocks above the wheels, it would be perfect. The price was affordable, too. We used this for our Chicco Sure Fit Car Seat because we couldn't find any other carrier that matched the Chicco. There is a nice basket underneath to carry some shopping bags, light groceries, etc. It comes with a cup holder, but we didn't install it. It also collapses very easily for storage into your car trunk or garage. It's neat and compact. I'm very glad I ordered this product on Amazon.

I have the Graco Safe Seat which is large. Originally I registered for the Graco Snugrider frame because it's supposed to fit the car seat perfectly and Babies R Us doesn't carry the Kolcraft frame. I received the Graco Snugrider frame and I HATED it. Although it held the carseat in correctly I found it so hard to close and it as so hard to access the basket when the carseat was in place. Also the steering wasn't the best. I ended up selling it and just putting my daughter in and out of our full size stroller. That worked for a while but it was quickly becoming a pain. My sister had a Kolcraft frame 4 years ago when she had my nephew and she loved it. She convinced me to try it out so I went to Buy Buy Baby to "test" drive it and I loved it. It closes so easily, has front suspension and moves like a dream. My husband loves it more than our Bumbleride stroller. I was a little concerend about the "universal" fit and reading some reviews how the Graco carseat doesn't fit properly in the frame. Granted it doesn't snap in like the Graco frame but it's very secure. I put the car seat on the stroller (without my daughter in it of course) strapped it in and moved it tipped it you name it and the frame stood in place. I love this thing and I'm happy I purchased it. It's a definite for any parent.

This is the best stroller I've ever owned. The only negative is that you can't use it forever. It's light weight, easy to fold and set up. The basket is very useful-large and easily accessible. The stroller handles all sorts of surfaces-gravel, concrete, bumps, carpeting, etc. It's a must have, much better than those bulky travel systems that everyone buys.

It says that all Graco SnugRide's would snap into it. Well, ours didn't. I was very disappointed, because I really liked the design. When we got it, the front bar was at an angle, but the pads were just too thick for our carseat. I live in rural AK, and we can't just go down to the store to see it before you buy it, but I would suggest doing that, and making sure that your seat will snap in properly! Other than that, it looked really nice, still waiting for Amazon to refund our money so we can buy the graco brand one. Good luck!

This is the best infant carrier stroller I've ever seen and used. I've had one that has lasted through two babies. It's very lightweight and easy to use. Packs up very small for the trunk. I'm so glad that I listened to people when they said not to buy the whole Graco "travel system". They are big and clunky and all those wacky patterns and gets totally beat up by the time the baby is ready for a regular stroller. I used this Universal with the carseat and then when they were older went with an Ingelsina Stroller that has really lasted.
Love it!

We trabel all over the place and just love having a smaller stroller- I LOVE the bin under the seat area- it holds ANYTHING you need it too! I am so happy I got it! My car seat doesn't snap in (Chicco) but I still like it. Although this is a bit tacky, we felt the need to fasten the front of the carrier too so use a bungee chord to connect the handle to the stroller, otherwise since it doesn't snap in, it just has a belt that goes around where the feet part is. Not secure enough for my liking. I still completely love it and am so happy I got it! 5'8'' and DH is 6'3'' and we are comfortable pushing it. It is also extremely easy to navigate and very easy to open and close!

I have the Chicco Keyfit 30 car seat and this stroller saves me! No more carrying heavy baby and seat! My particular car seat fits great and the safety strap has room to latch across and hold the seat in tight if needed. The cargo space underneath has plenty of room for those quick trips to the market or mall. It is easy to fold, even with one hand, and it goes everywhere with me in my car. I would definitely recommend this stroller to everyone!
Awesome, durable stroller!

My husband and I love this stroller.

br /We have a three week old and have used it for EVERYTHING from long walks over rough terrain to strolling in the mall. We are both impressed by how well it has taken the "rugged" parts of our walks and how easy it is to fold up! Also, it fits our Maxi-Cosi carseat where the other similar stroller option (snap-n-go) does not.

br /We will be really sad when our daughter grows out of her carseat and we have to move to a "real" stroller!

I bought this carseat carrier about 2 months after my baby was born. I keep it in the trunk of my car and it is just soooo easy to set up and take down (one hand-seriously) and lightweight- I love it! It steers very smoothly and is one of the most useful baby items we have now- I highly recommend it!

I bought it, and I LOVE this carrier. For the person who hates bulk and complication when wanting to take your baby with you, this item is a MUST!
Not quite universal enough...

This car seat is probably great, but please check what car seats it goes with as the title is quite deceptive. We bought a major name brand and it didn't work with this so-called universal car seat carrier.
