Great 2nd stroller but expensive with added accessories

This is great "second stroller" for quick errands, public transportation, or when you have very little room in your car. I would not use it as my main stroller because it doesn't recline.
br /
br /- Weighs 9.2 lbs with all accessories (it's marketed as the lightest stroller in the world).
br /
br /- Very compact folded up (41" x 10" x 10").
br /
br /- Has a carry strap, so it's easy to just throw over your shoulder if you need to carry your baby diaper bag or if your toddler wants to walk. You can literally pick it up with one finger and barely feel the weight when carrying it.
br /
br /- For "minimalist" travel, you can put a Roundabout or Marathon in it, tie it with a bungee cord (without the child inside) and push it one-handed while carrying your child, with a backpack. Good option if traveling alone.
br /
br /- Easy to clean plastic mesh seat.
br /
br /- The canopy is larger than the Maclaren Triumph's, but you may still need a sun canopy.
br /
br /- 55 lb capacity
br /
br /- No cupholder and a tiny basket(4.4 lb capacity) but it works well with a $[...] Maclaren organizer. The price creeps up with this, of course.
br /
br /- Quick one-hand hold while holding your baby.
br /
br /- To make it more comfortable for your child, you can get a light grey liner, rain shield and travel bag in a separate Maclaren Volo accessory pack for $[...] (once added on though, you hit $[...] - with the organizer, $[...]; take a look at the $[...] Inglesina Trip - almost the same price with every feature you could possibly want).
br /
br /Cons:
br /
br /- Hefty price for a simple-looking stroller, but worth it if your main concerns are weight, weight, weight, quality and durability.
br /
br /- More suitable for babies a year and older because the harness is a little large and there's really not a lot of support. It's very much like a hammock.
br /
br /- The light 2007 colors may show dirt easily. An all black version (2007 Carbon)is available at BRU for less, without a rain shield (this comes with the accessory pack anyway)
br /
br /- It doesn't recline. You can add a pair of 'cradlers' to help support your baby's head once he falls asleep. My baby doesn't seem to mind but it doesn't look really comfortable. Do not fold up the stroller with these..
br /
br /- No peek-a-boo window to check on baby
br /
br /- The wheels are very small and designed for smooth surfaces. It gives a bumpy ride elsewhere and doesn't handle cobblestone, gravel, or sand well at all. But that's when you just carry your child with the Volo over your shoulder.
br /
br /If you are looking for a stroller that reclines that you can use everyday and still travel with, I highly recommend the Inglesina Trip (15 lbs with all accessories) or the Maclaren Quest (13.5 lbs with all accessories). Both have 4-position reclines, adjustable footrests, rain shields, storage baskets, washable liners, reflective accents, carry handles and easy one hand two-step fold. Neither one has a snack tray or bar (for that you need to get a full-size stroller).
br /
br /The Inglesina Trip has the advantage of having waterproof canopy with visor, see through window on top, tall handles, 6.5" inch wheels and all-wheel suspension to better handle bumpy terrain. It is 2" longer and 1" wider than the Volo when folded up due to it's larger wheels and padded seat. Its weight capacity is 45 lbs.
br /
br /The Quest is lighter in weight but has no suspension, a window in back, and its smaller canopy is only water resistant. Its weight capacity is 55 lbs, like the Volo.
br /
br /I don't recommend the Combi as it's not as sturdy, is harder to fold with a two-handed three-step process, and the backrest is not attached to anything, so the child can just lean forward in his harness, backrest and all.
br /
br /Lastly, beware of weight listed as it refers to "bare weight" without any accessories. A lot of sites forget to add these on - and of course you'll rarely go out without them!
br /
br /In all, the Volo a great 2nd stroller for the price, as is, but if you want more features you can find them in other strollers for the same price.

looks nice, BUT buckles are HORRIBLE

I bought this stroller because I was looking for a second light easy stroller. I have the Graco Quattro Tour which has been great and our car seat clicks in it. But now our baby is 9 1/2 months old and we don't leave him in his car seat very much once we arrive places, and the stroller is very heavy and bulky for quick run ins. SO I loved the look of this stroller. And I thought even thought it didn't recline which was very important to me I liked the way it looked so much that I didn't care.
br /WELL when we got home and my husband and I were trying to use it we realized that the buckle straps were on the wrong sides and flipped inside out. SO you can't adjust the tightness once you child is in it, and everytime you try to buckel it it won't work because you realize its upsidown so you have to flip it. SECOND once you have them buckled in, It is very hard to squeeze the buckles undone.
br /SO I took it back and got the CHICCO CAPRI which is 59.00. I LOVE IT. The buckles are easy AND it reclines a little. Enough for short naps. and it comes with a carrying case. It is the same weight.
br /I know Maclaren is trendy, and I asked them at the store and they said all the straps are like that, but no one cares because its so trendy. Well, that it rediculous.

My yuppie indulgence

Handles are at a comfortable height. Stroller is extremely lightweight and has a convenient carrying strap. Classic design. Good for bigger, taller children (their feet won't drag on the floor). Bigger wheels equals comfort on different types of terrain. A brand I would buy again and recommend to others.

I absolutely LOVE this stoller. I bought it because I am tall and my cheapo $20 umbrella stroller was causing back pain and I kept kicking the wheels while pushing. This stroller is SO much more comfortable to push. The fabric breathes easily and my daughter doesn't complain when she has to get strapped in. The only drawback is there is no cupholder. I tried to get a generic one to attach, but then the folder wouldn't fold up. arg. All in all, totally worth the investment.

I love this stroller!

This stroller holds up to 55 lbs., unlike most umbrella strollers which only hold 35 lbs. I love the raised handle bars. They cause less strain on your shoulders and back. There is a roomy basket under the seat, which is a great bonus. The 8 wheels make it easier to steer and push over rocks or grass. Once my son was able to sit up on his own, I have used an umbrella stroller exclusively. This is hands down the best one I have ever had. It is also very modern looking in black and gray.

Great for taller parents

The angle of the rear wheels and the handles make walking comfortable if you're a taller parent (unlike really cheap umbrella strollers). It folds up very small, so it's easy to throw on the floor of the back seat if you don't have trunk space available. It also has a nice carrying strap so you can throw it over your shoulder like a gym bag, which was nice when I walked from my office to day care several blocks away. I always recommend this to my friends for ease of use and good value.

Well engineered stroller. A must have!!

Had a cheap Chicco Caddy Stroller (not really cheap ~~$60) and battled with it for a couple of years. Worked OK but had a seriously inferior umbrella system and wouldn't push with one hand plus the takedown wasn't always that easy. This Maclaren Volo Carbon Stroller is an absolute pleasure! My wife read the reviews here at Amazon and suggested we try one for our one year old. Ordered a couple and couldn't be more pleased. Easy in and out for our four year old.Our one year old seems a bit small in it but she doesn't complain at all. Seatbelt on her seems a bit on the loose side but she hasn't weaseled her way out yet. The ride is very smooth and easy to steer with one hand. Much more comfortable to walk behind than the above mentioned one.I was always kicking the Chicco. The takedown is very simple and it stores securely. The umbrella works like a charm. Wish this were out when we bought the first one. Easily worth double to triple the Chicco in price. The quality of the stroller is outstanding.Night and day between the two brands. The saved aggravation is priceless! Spend the extra dough and get one. You won't regret it!!

This is an excellent stroller and well worth the money. My husband and I purchased the red one from BuyBuyBaby. We intended on purchasing a similar Chicco one for about ½ the price. However, after test driving them (and other brands) in the store, the Maclaren won hands down. The handles are higher (good for tall people); it is sturdier than most other umbrella strollers; it steers well; and the canopy actually works to shade the child from both sun and rain. I would recommend purchasing the organizer that allows you to carry water and other bottles with you. It is worth the extra $20 or so. When we fold up the stroller, we just flip the organizer over the front.

I love this stroller! I bought a cheaper umbrella stroller and it was not near the stroller this is. The handles are at a comfortable height and my son sits comfortably in the stroller. The basket is perfect for a diaper bag and a couple of shopping bags. I highly recommend this stroller. It is a great investment and worth the money.

This stroller is the best! I have a very nice Peg and also a smaller Combi, I like them all for different reasons. However, since my child was very small (5mos) this is the stroller that wins out for 98% of our stoller use.
br /
br /The smaller babies don't look terribly comfortable in it, but that is the only drawback, and since it probably isn't meant for young infants that's fine. Once they are old enough to crawl they look plenty comfortable.
br /
br /This stroller is super lightweight, supersturdy (not easy to tip) and can literally be loaded, unloaded, folded and unfolded easily with one hand while holding an infant.
br /
br /Our Volo has endured 9 cross country airline trips (with numerous connections) and has held up perfectly. We don't use any type of carrying case for it, we just check it at the bottom of the jetway on each our flights.

Great for tall parents!

I shopped around to find an umbrella stroller that wouldn't break my back to push as I am 5'11" and this stroller is perfect. I found it at Target. It's so light and folds up easily which I found helpful when traveling and going through security at the airport. I would definitely reccomend this to others!

So easy to use, light weight, awesome!

THis is a great little umbrella stroller that is very light weight and easy to fold/unfold. Has a shoulder strap so when your little one insists on walking, you can just throw the stroller over your shoulders. Good quality, worth every penny. Good safety straps. Comes with sun shade and rain cover (at least mine did). Highly recommended.

Myhusband and I like this stroller a lot (as does our 6 month old daughter). The height is perfect, and the maneuverability is great. It folds easily and is very light. The reason I didn't give it five stars is because it's a bit tall for our daughter, so it makes her slouch down.

If you're looking for a good umbrella stroller look no further!

I absolutely love this stroller. I have a Chicco umbrella stroller and I can't figure how to collapse it. I had a bigger Graco stroller that I used with the car seat and it worked fine but now that my son is almost two I wanted something lighter and not so bulky. This stroller is fabulous. It collapses incredibly easy and weighs as much as a feather. You pay more for this than many others but it's money well spent.

I love this stroller. My 2yr old is a big boy and he fits in this stroller comfortably. It's lightweight easy to open close. Also, as a tall mom (5'8") the handles are perfect, no bending over to push it. The carbon stroller pushes like a dream I like having a basket underneath, it's not large but works for my purse diaper bag. The canopy is large gives good coverage, most smaller strollers don't have that. I would highly recommend this stroller, it's worth the price.

I like it but...

Cute stroller, easy to fold, unfold, carry. First problem I ran into the moment I took it out of the box was the clips...they were nearly IMPOSSIBLE to unclip. We almost had to grind down the sides to get it to work properly. My husband ended up taking pliers and pushing the clips closer together, but it is still difficult to use; I'm still waiting for the day I have to cut my daughter out of her seat! Second problem...well, not a huge problem yet as my daughter is not trying to get out of the seat, but at 7 months (and a LONG torso) the shoulder straps are way to loose, I'm real nervous about her falling out. She enjoys chewing on them now, thank goodness no teeth or I'd be in for it!
br /Another thing is that the dirt from the wheels gets all over the canopy. The only way to avoid the canopy looking nasty is to a)use a towel or other item when folding to keep wheels from touching or b) don't use the canopy.
br /My biggest gripe is the clips as they are way too hard to use (no, I'm not a wimp they really are almost impossible! Then again, for a "Made in China" product, should I expect more?
br /Would buy again, but all fingers and toes would be crossed that the clips are user friendly
