The most versitile stroller for town and country

This is an excellent lightweight stroller and is the one we use most often. We have a more expensive, larger, "safer" stroller with more features, but we have found we never use it and always use this one.
br /
br /Collapsing the stroller to pop into the car is a breeze, and there is an adequate shoulder strap for you to carry the stroller when you are doing portage over rough ground.
br /
br /We take the stroller everywhere. We've used it on well-groomed trails for hiking, museums, restaurants, we've even used it at the beach, and we've used it on the Paris Metro. This is a great stroller for train and subway travel.
br /
br /The wheels have a lock feature which allows them to rotate, or swivel, and the rear wheels have a brake mechanism which is a little awkward to release, but I find that comforting rather than frustrating: I want solid brakes.
br /
br /There is a small basket in the back of the stroller for a baby bag, purse, and a few groceries, so this again is an excellent stroller for when you are just running out for a few things or going on a small picnic. If I was an apartment dweller in the city, this is the stroller I'd get.
br /
br /The only bad feature: this is not a stroller you can run with! Don't even try.
br /
br /The harness is excellent, but takes time to adjust it correctly so that it is not too snug nor too loose. This is a super lightweight stroller, but is a quality product with excellent engineering and design. It is not like those flimsy twenty-dollar throwaways and just has the MacLaren name on it: this is the real deal. We have used it for two kids, still works like new. We should get sales rep compensation, because no one really had these in Paris and all our friends saw ours and got one too.

we can't decide whether we like it or we've been had

We purchased this stroller for its convenience in the car and for frequent travel. I think it's safe to say that we have an ambivalent relationship with the Volo, not including my 12 month old daughter who would give it a definite thumbs down.
br /On the up side it is very light and folds easily and is compact. Not to mention that everyone gets to see you have a Maclaren stroller in a wonderful shade of orange. The stroller is great for the airport and quick shopping trips when you are in and out of the car.
br /We first purchased the volo without springing for the seat pad. This was a mistake as our daughter was clearly uncomfortable and was unwilling to spend significant time in the stroller. The seat pad did increase her comfort level but she still grows tired of the volo much more quickly than her larger stroller. I think this has to do with the fact that she is not very upright in the volo and cannot shift much in the seat as it offers no support. On top of it, the velcro on the seat pad becomes unhinged each time you fold the stroller - a minor annoyance but a hassle all the same. The awning offers very little sun protection. The mesh cargo area holds very little and is difficult to access. On top of that, you need to empty it completely in order to fold the stroller.
br /When it comes to travel the volo leaves much to be desired. With limited cargo room, it becomes quite unstable if you hang anything on the handles. It has no recline making it difficult for children to sleep well - a problem when you want to spend the day wandering. Further, while it is great to have such a lightweight stroller when getting it in and out of the car, riding escalators and getting on and off the bus, the Volo flounders once you get off well-paved surfaces. We encountered potholes, dirt paths, cobblestones and sand in our tavels and the Volo was a disaster. The wheels would spin erratically and catch in large divets and gutters. Locking the front wheels so they would not swivel provided little relief. Cobblestones were particularly disastrous as the stroller was so hard to manage and such an uncomfortable ride that we ended up carrying both the child and the volo.
br /If I had to do it over, I would opt for a compact stroller that weighs a bit more but offers larger wheels, easy-access storage and a supported reclining seat.

Terrific travel and all-around stroller

Our $10 piece of junk umbrella stroller (you know the one) bit the dust on a 10 day trip to Europe so in a bit of emergency we got this one at Harrod's in London, and about had a cow paying 60 pounds for this exact stroller. Turns out it's the best one we could have gotten and the price was right. You can't go wrong. It's sturdy, well-balanced, super easy to fold up and carry around (sling it over your shoulder--it's that light) and has a nice larger sun/rain shield (ours happened to come with a rain cover as well, but this was in London and I don't know if this US version comes with it automatically). The color orange is great for boys or girls and bright enough for pedestrian/traffic awareness. Love it. Like many people, with two kids we calculated that we've gone through half a dozen strollers over the past 8 years (how does that happen?! car seats, too) and this is the best so far. Go for it.

Very light-weight and easy to fold/unfold. It manouvers smoothly, very nice. The mesh seat is easy to keep clean. My baby likes it and appears comfortable in it!

Overall Good Stroller, worth the $$$

Good:
br /1 Light weight
br /2 Mesh/breathable fabric for warm weather
br /3 Handles are tall enough for woman in heels, or husbands.
br /4 Nice colors
br /5 Easier to steer than other stollers. (can use 1 hand)
br /6 Folds flat and has carry handle
br /
br /Bad:
br /1 Too light to put your bag or purse on the handles, will tip with no baby in it.
br /2 Doesn't recline
br /3 Sometimes the 5 point harness takes more effort to unclip
br /
br /Overall, this is a good investment. Turns out most parents will end up using thier compact 'umbrella' stoller way more than the deluxe, super gadget stoller. It's so much easier to use these simple light weight strollers, than their bulky, wide, heavy counterparts.

This new Maclaren stroller is fantastic! We just returned from three weeks in France with this great stroller. It can roll down an aisle on an airplane and negotiate the rocks and bumps of any street. It is very light and we love the new shoulder strap. I have 3 kids and this is the best stroller I have ever used!

When I was pregnant with my son I received one of those big, bulky strollers as a baby shower gift, but after my son grew out of the attaching car seat he quickly grew to hate the stroller - as did I.
br /
br /After much research we bought the Maclaren Volo Carbon Stroller with mesh backing (we live in Florida so the mesh was perfect for our climate) and I am sure I will never own another stroller. I remember cringing as I spent the $100 but we now joke that it was the best $100 we ever spent. It really was.
br /
br /We have traveled all over the country with the stroller - it's lightweight, extremely collapsable and comes with a shoulder strap that was a genious addition. The wheels don't stick like cheaper umbrella strollers, it can take a beating and still keep going. At 4 years and 42 lbs it still carried my son without a squeek. (Ok we did WD-40 the wheels once in the 4 years we had it.) The mesh backing made cleaning the stroller a breeze. It can easily be steered with one hand, and we personally loved the shape of the handles and the handle padding - pushing other strollers feels so awkward now. The basket underneath is incredibly handy and carries a surprising amount. It folds easily with one hand and foot.
br /
br /My son doesn't use a stroller anymore but the Volo still looks and works perfectly so we are saving it for our next child.
br /
br /Bottom line, this stroller is worth every penny you pay for it.
br /
br /The ONE and only complaint I have about the stroller is that it would be nice if the seat reclined for younger infants. If you are thinking about purchasing this stroller for younger infants consider spending the extra $ for the model that does recline. A sun visor might be something to consider too.

I love how easy this stroller is to use, the way it looks, the way it handles and drives, and most importantly my son LOVES to ride in it! I say "nearly perfect" only because I wish it reclined. But this doesn't seem to prevent my son from having a pleasant nap in it....I just think he'd be more comfortable if it reclined. I'd keep everything else about it the same, and I would definitely recommend this stroller for someone who travels with her child as much as I do (once a month at least).

We got our Maclaren stroller a few weeks ago. We love it. My husband and I are both tall ~ me 5'7" and him 6'1". Both of us can use this stroller without slouching or kicking the wheels when we walk. The stroller folds and unfolds easily and maneuvers beautifully. I highly recommend this stroller to anyone who is taller and wants a convenient stroller.

Best stroller we own. Our top of the line Graco and Jeep strollers sit in the garage now! It is very light weight, easy to use, and folds up very neat and tidy.

My son is 3 1/2 and 40 lbs. He outgrew his umbrella stroller a long time ago. We saw this stroller when we were on vacation and were very impressed. It's nothing special, but it is wide and perfect for the older toddler. My son has enough room to put his arms next to his sides without feeling confined. It lacks cupholders, but that's not a big deal. We also like the bright orange color which gives it a big boy look instead of a baby pattern like most stroller. My husband will actually push this one. The price is a bit steep, but we lucked out and found one for $90.00.

the volo is the best travel stroller and compacts so easily to have in the trunk of your car. we had a black one and I loved it. unfortunately, my hubby lost it (how do you do that?).. so I bought this one online. I love orange. This one is a pretty hue, but shows dirt pretty easily. I don't care.... I love the stroller. Great engineering!

This incredibly lightweight umbrella stroller (we got the saffron one) is great for city streets. A definitely spacesaver compared to our old Graco travel system stroller--we now have room for other things in the trunk, like groceries and luggage. My one-year-old seems very comfortable in it and there's plenty of room left for her to grow.

I love this stroller to just keep in the van. It's lightweight (very lightweight), has a should strap, easy to use (took a few minutes to figure it out), and my son seems reasonbly comfortable. It even comes with a sunshade that is lightweight.

It's a really nice, light weight alternative - however it I had a chance to purchase all over again, I would not pick this product. It lacks a cup holder for the parent (do-able), but also lacks one for the child, which make s it hard for them to drink randomly and it also lacks a tray for snacking, which my son loves to do and so we have to stop each time and it is a total hassle. I wish they would add these features, then it would the ultimate.

I bought the volo after reading many reviews. However, it was utter disappointment. As soon as I took out the stroller from a box, and the carrying strap was off with broken piece of plastic holding piece. Yes, the stroller is light, and very very flimsy. I returned it right away.

My son is a HUGE Tony Stewart fan and he LOVES all things orange. This stroller is perfect in every way. It is small, light, with an extremely nice ride. Give this one a try, especially if you are a Tony Stewart fan. We always get TONS of compliments on this stroller. The Colours are very different and vibrant.
